The Guild of St. Luke was founded in 2009, after years of passionate interest in late medieval historical interpretation as volunteers at the Medieval Centre at Nykøbing Falster in Denmark.
The founders decided it was time to create a serious platform for the research, study, recreation and execution of the medieval art techniques of painting, drawing, illumination, decorating, writing and gilding.
In general the Guild focuses on 15th century art, although a large part of our work is carried out at the new painter’s workshop in the recreated medieval town Sundkøbing at the Medieval Centre where the focal time period is the opening decade of the 15th century.
